Runway Trends : FW21

As the legendary Coco Chanel once said- “Fashion changes, but style endures.”

There’s no denying that individual style allows us to characterize ourselves through the way we dress. Personal style is what makes each of us unique, and gives us the freedom of telling a story without having to say a word. So why are trends still around? In fashion, a trend refers to a specific style that is favored and popularized by a large audience for a certain period of time. With that being said, it is very possible to take a trend, and morph it to fit your own unique look- that’s what makes trends so fun!

Never feel pressured into trying a trend that doesn’t appeal to you. Rather, take a look at these 5 runway trends for Fall/Winter 21’, and see which of them could be incorporated into your wardrobe to fit your own style!

SATURATED COLORS

Bright colors for colder temperatures are a must this season. You should even expect this trend to flow into next year- so listen, and listen good. Saturated colored apparel is a great way to make you feel and look good. Its been proved that certain colors provoke certain emotions; so update that closet of yours from all black to bright pinks, bottega greens, and soft blues. Stop hiding and be seen- BE BOLD!

OVERSIZED DENIM

For fall/winter 21, designer collections have shared with us different ways to manipulate denim, one of which is to make it oversized. Oversized clothing isn’t anything new, however, oversized denim can be worn and styled in a variety of ways. Styles vary from reworked-or “patchwork”- pieces, to layered denim. Try styling an oversized pair of ripped jeans with a large black belt to create a paper bag waist effect; or an oversized denim patchwork top, also belted!

MONOCHROME LAYERING

If you’re not interested in making a scene, take it a step back by dressing monochromatic. Not only is it a popular trend, monochrome layering is a great way to look stylish, whether it be simple or complex. An easy monochromatic look is consistent of one main color- this color is then built up by layering more pieces in the same hue. Don’t be shy and give it a try!

KNIT DRESSES

Just because the temperatures dropping, doesn’t mean we can’t wear dresses. Knit dresses are simple and flirty, and perfect to pair with a long trench coat. Christopher John Rogers’ rainbow striped ribbed dress is a perfect example of how to make a simple silhouette fun, no matter the season.

DETAILING

My personal favorite- accessories. No matter how simple your outfit may be, you can always turn it up a notch by detailing it. Carryall bags, kerchiefs, platform shoes with lug soles, balaclavas and long fashion gloves are this autumn/winter’s go-to accessories!!!
